UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL OF YOUR MOSAIC MATERIALS

Do you have a stash of mosaic materials that you really want to use?

Perhaps you want to discover ways of adding extra dimension to your mosaics

Or maybe you are on a budget and your options for materials are limited.

If any of these apply, then this course is for you!

In this course you will discover new ways of using everyday mosaic materials, whether it’s glass tiles, a broken plate, or some pebbles from the beach.  Each material holds so much potential.

You will be guided through a series of practical exercises, to help you explore the different effects you can create with your materials.

You will then apply what you have learned to create your own piece of mosaic art.

Tuesdays at 7pm (UK time) starting 21st February

Teaching sessions will be held on 21st Feb, 28th Feb, 14th March and 21st March

A clinic session will be held on 7th March to review student’s work and provide individual feedback as needed.

Do I need to provide my own tools and materials?

Yes. You will need some materials (whatever you want to use), appropriate tools for cutting your materials, some tile adhesive/thinset, and some boards to make your mosaics on. A materials list with recommended resources will be provided.

What if I can’t make the live sessions?

All the live teaching sessions will be recorded. All enrolled students will be given access to the recordings within 24 hours of the live teaching.

So whether you can't make the live or just want to watch again, you can catch up at a time that works for you. Access to the recordings will be available for six months after the course ends so you have plenty of time to catch up.

What exactly will I be making?

In the first two sessions you will be encouraged to create a series of sample pieces as you experiment with your materials and techniques.

In the final two sessions you will focus on making a mosaic using what you have learned from the earlier class. Guidance will be given on design so you can focus on using your materials creatively.

Is this course suitable for beginners?

Yes, although some experience of mosaic is helpful. There are training videos provided that cover the basics, like mixing adhesive and preparing substrates, and there will be live demonstrations of the different techniques so you can see how to do things.

This class is also suitable for people who have some mosaic experience but want to explore techniques for using their materials more creatively.
